The official Steve Jobs biography, which includes the last ever interview with the Apple Chief, hasn’t even been released but according to various sources the rights to make a movie out of it have already been sold.
Walter Isaacson, author of the book, is rumored to have agreed on a deal with Sony Pictures – the studio behind successful business stories-turned-movies “The Social Network” and “Moneyball.” Isaacson and his publisher will receive $3 million if the movie is produced – on top of the $1 million already paid for the rights. Aaron Sorkin seems to be the desired screenwriter, well known for both the above movies and creator of “West Wing.”
This won’t be Jobs’ first movie – his career at Apple from beginning to 1997 has already been documented in “Pirates of Silicon Valley.” A film that was based on the book “Fire in the Valley” by Michael Swaine and Paul Freiberger. It starred Noah Wyle as Steve Jobs who was later invited on stage to prank the audience at a Macworld conference – and was no doubt the inspiration for Mark Zuckerberg and Andy Samberg’s prank at F8.
The book will be published later this month after the date being moved forward twice before. Sony are no-doubt aware that the market for the film is potentially massive and are likely to go ahead with the film, however, film studios are known for frequently buying the rights for films and never making them. Would you go and see a movie based on the entire life of Steve Jobs? Let us know in the comments below.

I would definitely see a movie about Steve Jobs. Without a doubt. But, I really hope they don’t misrepresent Steve as much as they did Zuck. It would be a bit shameful to slander his name after he’s passed away, so let’s hope they stick to the facts. Other than that, good article!
I take it that you haven’t seen The Pirates of Silicon Valley then?
